I have just this weekend had the most amazing privilege of taking part in London Fashion Week as a catwalk model for sportswear designer Charli Cohen. I have long been a fan of Charli’s stylish, sexy yet functional sports luxe fitness wear, and so was beyond flattered when she asked me a few weeks back if I would be part of the team to model her Autumn Winter 2015 collection. Charli wanted to showcase her clothes by having fit girls wear them – females who looked like they worked out, not starved themselves. You can read more on Charli’s decision to send fit girls down the runway here:
As you may have seen via my Facebook and Instagram pages, in the weeks leading up to the show I really stepped up my training regime, and started to really take control of my diet – I had a short term goal to look as lean as possible on the catwalk and so made sure I was balancing protein, good fats and carbs and eating what I needed when I needed it (i.e. high carb on heavy activity days, low carb high protein on quieter or rest days). The week before the show I even undertook a two day cleanse with Plenish (further details on this in another upcoming blog post!) which was a fantastic experience, and I felt fashion show ready by the time Sunday rolled around. It helped that I was walking alongside an amazingly inspiring bunch of female fitness fanatics all of whom were real advocates of the “fit not thin” movement.
I adored the outfit Charli chose for me – the Isei tank and track pants in black and silver – cannot wait to get an Isei of my own when the collection launches later this year! The entire Akari collection is full of flattering pieces that would look good for any type of workout (and post workout juice trip too!) – take a look at the Vogue photos of the entire collection here:
Yes that’s right, VOGUE! I could’t believe it when later on in the evening of show day yours truly popped up on the British Vogue website – what an honour to be featured in the fashion bible itself. It just goes to show that I may not be skinny, I may not be in my 20’s, and I may not be 6ft tall – but that with some belief, self confidence and a tight training regime – anything is possible!
If you would like my help getting catwalk ready, don’t hesitate to get in touch – I hope you’ll agree from the photos that my pre show training and nutrition plan worked…..
