If you’ve been reading my Blog or following me for a while on social media, you’ll know that one of my tried and tested nutrition tips is making protein a priority in your diet. It keeps you fuller for longer, repairs muscle after training and is hugely beneficial in assisting with fat loss. I always recommend making protein a focus at every meal, but what about snacks? Can you hit your macros or fuel up post training without having to carry chicken breasts or boiled eggs around in your gym bag?! Thanks to Sport Nutrition company SCI-MX and their On-The-Go range, then yes you can.
Regular users of Instagram will no doubt be very familiar with certain fitness related hashtags such as “Transformation Tuesday”, “Workout Wednesday” and “Throwback Thursday” (to name a few) and my followers will know I enjoy posting these themed photos on my account (@wildcatfit just in case you’re not already following me). #throwbackthursday has to be a particular favourite of mine, because for me looking at old photographs of myself before I started my fitness journey are one of the best ways for me to track my own progress. It can be hard on a daily basis to see how far you’ve come, but when you compare where you are now to where you were one, two or maybe even more years ago chances are the changes will be more obvious to see. Some days when I’m struggling for inspiration I have a look at just how far I’ve come for that extra motivation to continue on the path I’m on and ensure I don’t skip my training that day (yes, even PT’s struggle for motivation from time to time…. there are days when I’d much rather spend an hour reading or shopping or having coffee rather than training…. but I NEVER regret a workout once I start!) and this is one such comparison shot that I’ve recently shared on my Instagram.
These two photos of me have several years between them. Several years, a lot of heartache, small wins, big setbacks, unlimited dedication, many, many mistakes… but the results were worth it. But when you have the results you’ve been working all that time for…. then what?
When you start a weight loss transformation journey – it won’t be easy, but it is possible. It won’t be quick, but it is worth it. It may not be straightforward, but you have to keep going. There’s 7 years difference in these photos, in the photo on the left I was almost three stone heavier and so uncomfortable and unhappy in myself and actually not long after this photo was taken I decided enough was enough and I had to take responsibility for getting healthier. This picture was taken at the end of a girls weekend away – I’d been drinking, eating chips on the way home and then having fry ups the next morning. My size 12 jeans were far too tight but I squeezed myself in regardless. I would diet then binge, drank every weekend and exercised erratically. But I finally realised it had to stop and that I wouldn’t be happy in my own skin until I had a body I could be proud of, not want to hide away.
The long journey after that took many twists and turns….
When brand new high protein peanut butter brand Hi-Pro approached me to create a healthy recipe with their fabulous new nut butters I knew I wanted to come up with a nutritious twist on a naughty treat. So my Hi Pro PB Truffles were born! Hi-Pro is different from other nut butters out there because it contains 33% protein per serving so these truffles are protein packed, free from refined sugar and bursting with nutrients. There’s still time to whip up a batch to enjoy with coffee on Christmas morning!

One last #throwbackthursday for 2015…. On the left me in 2009… And on the right last week as shot by Tom Miles on our photoshoot last week.
Was it easy? No. Was it worth it? Without a shadow of a doubt. Did it happen overnight? Hell no! Yes you can loose weight quickly – and sometimes I did, but it doesn’t stay off, nor is this lifestyle sustainable. I’ve learnt so many lessons along the path of my fitness journey – some took longer than others and some were harder than others. [Read more…] about One last Transformation Tale
Happy Hol-lean-Days number 4 – everyone needs a little support at this time if year – and one of my favourite forms of festive help is my supplement stack. Of course it can be argued that with a good diet you shouldn’t need to supplement – but at this busy and stressful time of year it isn’t always that easy to get the nutritional support our bodies and immune systems need, especially when still training hard. So I like to offer my system support in the form of supplements.
As promised via Instagram, this post has full details and links of exactly what I take every day, with links of where to purchase.
