Healthy, beautiful, delicious: my favourite new London Brunch spot!

July 18, 2016 by wildcatfitness Leave a Comment

I’m not really sure when the custom of Brunch (quite literally a cross between Breakfast and Lunch) became a “thing” here in London…. but safe to say it’s a pretty massive “thing” and the choice now for Brunch spots here in our lovely City is seemingly endless. So when I heard that “deliciously different” Soho restaurant Ethos Foods were now offering a weekend brunch menu I not only went to check it out…. but got to interview Ethos’ incredibly inspirational owner, Jessica Kruger at the same time to ask her a bit more about this beautiful restaurant and its meat-free menu.

Pictured here is just one of the delicious cooked-to-order Brunch items from the Sunday menu – Kale and Sweet Potato Hash sautéed in coconut oil with tofu and turmeric. Mouth watering yet?

And the Winner is….

…. unbelievably, me! I am ecstatic to be able to tell you that you are now officially reading the Best Fitness Blog – as awarded last Friday at the That Protein Health Blog Awards 2016.

Even over a week later, I still can’t quite believe it. Whilst I do work hard and put a lot of time into creating content for my Blog, it really is largely a labour of love – I write because I love it, and because I love having the chance to inform and inspire a wider audience with workout tips, healthy recipes, class and product reviews and sharing my own personal weight loss and fitness story. That in itself means the world to me, so to also win an award for Blogging really is a privilege. So why did I start the Wildcat Fitness Blog, and how much does winning Best Fitness Blog really mean to me?

Health Blog Awards: Shortlisted Blogger….and a plea for votes!

May 12, 2016 by wildcatfitness Leave a Comment

I was beside myself with excitement earlier this week when I received an email from the team at the Health Bloggers Community to tell me that I have been shortlisted in the That Protein and HBC Health Blog Awards  as Best Fitness Blogger!

To have come so far and be so recognised in such a short space of time (especially when Blogging really is a passion project of mine and not my main job or source of income) is such an honour, especially to be nominated alongside some other fantastic Fitness Bloggers, all of whom are worthy winners. I can only thank those of you that have been a part of this journey with me, both those who have been reading since the start, and those of you who are new to the world of Wildcat Fitness, without my readers I wouldn’t be here…. but I still need to ask you one more small favour! The public vote counts for 30% on the mark so I would absolutely LOVE it if you guys would be able to spare just a moment to vote for me in the Best Fitness Blog Category, you can do so here. If you could spread the word and ask your fellow healthy friends and family to vote for me too that would be amazing! Voting closes on 31st May, with the winners announced at an Awards Ceremony on 17th June – and as much as I genuinely mean it when I say any of the Bloggers in my category would be well deserving winners, of course it would mean the world to me to take the trophy on the night!

Recipe: Mixed Berry and Ginger Crumble

January 25, 2016 by Lisa Jane Leave a Comment

Lets’s face facts: everyone loves a crumble! So warming, so comforting, and usually so full of fat and sugar. Not when you make it the Wildcat way! And not only that, my simple, healthy Crumble recipe takes less than 15 minutes to prepare (and much, much less time to devour!)

Recipe: Peanut Butter Truffles

December 22, 2015 by wildcatfitness Leave a Comment

When brand new high protein peanut butter brand Hi-Pro approached me to create a healthy recipe with their fabulous new nut butters I knew I wanted to come up with a nutritious twist on a naughty treat. So my Hi Pro PB Truffles were born! Hi-Pro is different from other nut butters out there because it contains 33% protein per serving so these truffles are protein packed, free from refined sugar and bursting with nutrients. There’s still time to whip up a batch to enjoy with coffee on Christmas morning!

A slice of foodie New York

October 11, 2015 by Lisa Jane Leave a Comment

My husband and I’s original plan for our honeymoon last year was a trip across America – starting in New York and ending up in San Diego, taking in several cities on our way across. Once we actually realised how long we would need to do this properly (and that it would cost several times more than our actual wedding) we settled on a beach honeymoon and that we would spend our first wedding anniversary in New York. So at the end of September this year we hopped on a plane to JFK Airport to begin six days of fun, fitness, fashion and of course plenty of food.

NY Brooklyn Bridge

New York is one of the few places I have visited with a restaurant scene to rival London, and plenty of hidden gems from tiny juice bars to Michelin starred blowouts, and our trip took in both of these and plenty in between, so I wanted to share our New York nibbles with you, as in a city this size with quite so much choice it is almost impossible to know where to start, and as you’ll see, I also managed to hunt out some healthy options (and some not so healthy ones too, it was a holiday after all!)
