When Alejandro from Fight Co asked me if he could write something for Wildcat Fitness UK on the benefits of combat sports I was thrilled – there’s a reason boxers are so lean and fit! You’ve probably tried the cycling classes, Zumba, yoga and meditation, and other popular fitness classes. But something that might have flown under the radar is combat sports. You heard right, I’m talking about muay-thai, boxing, judo, karate, and even the trendy MMA style of fighting. When you hear these disciplines of fighting, images of two men beating each other to the pulp probably arise. But just because you’re undergoing the same training as these fighters doesn’t mean you actually have to get into the octagon and Rousey another person to the floor. Taking up a combat sport will benefit you in ways that other types of fitness training can’t even come close to.
