My career in the fitness industry started in 2008 when I took my Level 2 CYQ in Exercise to Music as a first step to becoming a fitness instructor. Believe it or not I actually first started attending Group Fitness classes back in the 90s with my Mum – we loved a bit of step aerobics at the local leisure centre! Almost 20 years later I still can’t quite believe sometimes that now it’s me up the front with my Britney-style head mic teaching classes across London week in week out. But did you ever stop and think just how much preparation and planning goes into the classes that you turn up to? Had you ever considered the amount of training we fitness instructors do to ensure we’re at the top of our game? And when you complain that the studio is too hot, timetable doesn’t suit you or music is not to your taste…. did you ever think what a blow that might me to the instructor who has put her heart and soul into delivering a life changing group fitness experience for you? No? Well maybe you might after I let you in on a few secrets about what life as a fitness instructor is really like…..
I am so excited to be able to share the news with you that the brand new Lorna Jane UK website has just gone live – meaning you can now shop the entire Lorna Jane activewear collection from the comfort of your sofa – and even better immerse yourself in the incredible Move, Nourish, Believe ethos that Lorna Jane herself created. Not only that, but I’ve picked some of my favourite activewear pieces from the current collection – all of which you can now order via the website AND get 15% off all order until 23rd August to celebrate the long awaited launch!
But why am I so obsessed with this Australian activewear brand, and so excited about it’s official online launch here in the UK?
To me there’s nothing better than celebrating fitness of any kind, so when I was invited to a sunrise Yoga session to celebrate International Yoga Day last week (21st June) and to launch brand new health festival Manna I RSVP’d with pleasure. And despite some horrific rain and thunderstorms in the days leading up to it, the skies cleared for our introduction to all things Planet Manna on a West London rooftop.
As we made our way to Pergola on the Roof (the top of the old BBC Television Centre in Shepherds Bush, West London) and the sunshine started to break through I knew we were in for a special morning getting a taste of what Planet Manna is all about.
My social media followers will no doubt know by now that just over a month ago I started teaching my very own class at the brand new stunning studio space that is the Active Living Room at the Lorna Jane UK store in Covent Garden. This is hugely exciting for me personally, not least because Lorna Jane is hands-down my favourite fitness fashion brand, but also because this is my first regular group fitness class of my own creation. Yes I’ve been a fitness instructor for almost 8 years, but teaching pre-choreographed workouts (in the form of Les Mills Body Pump and Body Attack), so this is a very exciting opportunity for me to launch my own Wildcat Workout brand live in London!
But what can you expect from a Wildcat Fitness Total Body Strength Class at Lorna Jane UK?
Happy New Year! What will 2016 have in store for you? This time 12 months ago I never would have even dreamed of some of the incredible experiences I have had in 2015 – and so I want to tell you that whatever you think the New Year may bring – don’t ever underestimate what you’re capable of. As the saying goes – dreams don’t work unless you do, and thanks to hard work, effort and determination last year saw me take both myself and Wildcat Fitness to places I never thought possible. The very same goes for you – you and your body are capable of incredible things, so where would you like the next 12 months to take you? Put in the effort, always be nice to people, believe in yourself and awesome things can and will be yours.

September 27th will always be a special day for me as it marks my wedding anniversary….. and this year marked not only my first year of marriage, but also the third Lorna Jane Active Nation Day, “a movement created in 2012 by Lorna Jane to inspire women, their families, communities, cities and the world to live a more Active Life” to quote Lorna herself. Lorna’s vision was to encourage women all over the world to make a commitment to a life of Active Living by taking part in some sort of activity on 27th September, and making a personal pledge to a fitter and healthier future. As this is something I believe in and support so strongly, I was more than happy to wear an Active Living promise bracelet, as given to me by the fantastic Lorna Jane Europe (you can buy one for yourself too via this link!)
So what is my personal pledge to the Lorna Jane Active Living movement and what do I personally commit to by wearing the sporty sisterhood bracelet?
